Renew Counselling and Training

REFERRALS

Making a referral to renew

At Renew, our counselling offer is multi-layered, high-quality and far-reaching. Our counsellors have a wide range of specialisms, and as such we can offer services to adults, children, young people, couples, families and clergy. We also have counsellors available that are specially trained to work with clients with eating disorders.

If you’d like to make a referral to Renew, scroll to the relevant section below for further information.

For Schools

As you’ll see on our Counselling in Schools page, we offer a range of services to schools – from counselling to training for staff.   Our work in schools is usually carried out as part of a specific contract with an individual school, multi-academy trust or local development group.   Where a contract is not in place, it is possible for schools to refer individual pupils to our centres. On occasion, a counsellor may attend a school for a short period of time to work with one child or cohort of children following a particularly distressing or upsetting event. Many schools use Pupil Premium to cover the cost of this work.  If you’re a school wanting to make a referral to Renew, or if you’d like to discuss a longer term contract, please get in touch with Justine Colley, Counselling Manager for Schools: Phone 07903 410131 Email justinecolley@renew.org.uk

For GPs
and support
organisations

We offer counselling to a broad range of people with a variety of needs. Head to the Counselling page for a full list of the services we offer and for more information about our fees and subsidies.  All counsellors are appropriately trained and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Renew counselling services are accredited by BACP.  Clinical work is supervised by qualified, experienced supervisors to the level required by the BACP. A consultant Clinical Lead provides a robust governance and appraisal of the work to support our internal policies and procedures.  If you are a GP or support organisation looking to make a referral to Renew, please do get in touch with one of our counselling centres.

For Clergy

Since its beginnings as the West Ham Central Mission, Renew has always had a strong link to the Baptist Church. The charity has a long history of supporting the work of both Baptist and Anglican communities, and has offered counselling support to clergy and their families for almost 20 years.  Our counsellors work well with issues of faith and are aware of and sensitive to the particular issues that Christian ministry brings. We can offer support to ministers in dealing with particular pastoral situations from both an individual and congregational perspective.   Renew can provide training on mental health, pastoral and psychological issues for those working with children, young people and adults within a church setting.  To refer church members for counselling, please contact Revd.
