Bishop Guli Francis-Dehqani
Bishop of Chelmsford
Guli Francis-Dehqani was born in Iran in 1966 and moved to England following the events of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Having studied music as an undergraduate, she worked at the BBC for a few years before training for ordination and completing a PhD. Guli was ordained in 1998, was appointed Bishop of Chelmsford in 2020, and also serves as the Church of England’s first Bishop for Housing.
