TAKE THE NEXT
STEP IN YOUR
COUNSELLING
CAREER

Top up your training to a full BA (Hons) and engage in practical research, with this one-year course for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists.

Develop your skills, knowledge and clinical practice with a choice of two specialist routes: Counselling Adults or Counselling Children and Young People.

Counselling Adults: this is an opportunity to develop your understanding of therapeutic work with adults, with a specific focus on sexual issues in therapy. It includes a module introducing you to the emerging area of digital media in therapy.

Counselling Children & Young People: this route meets a number of the BACP Competences for working with young people (2014). It will help you to develop a clinical specialism, with a specific focus on working with creative media.

TEACHING AND MODULES

Explore person-centred theory in depth and develop your research skills across the course of one year.

As well as exploring person-centred theory and counselling with adults or children and young people, you’ll develop, present and peer review a seminar paper. You’ll also form study and supervision groups to support your learning.

You’ll also develop a fundamental understanding of research in counselling and psychotherapy. This prepares you for the research project and dissertation you’ll complete in your final semester.
