Ahead of Renew’s Celebration Day, we meet guest speaker and renowned counsellor, psychotherapist, academic, community activist and President of the BACP, Professor Lynne Gabriel, OBE, who will be giving a talk on her career, including her research on the impact of domestic violence on children and young people.

A combined study published in the Lancet Child and Adolescent Health this week reported a large rise in eating disorder diagnoses and self-harm episodes amongst teenage girls in the UK in the years since the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a counselling charity, we recognise the crucial role counselling plays in empowering LGBTQ+ individuals, providing them with a safe space to explore their identities, navigate challenges, and thrive in a society that celebrates diversity.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme of embracing equity is in line with Renew’s aim to empower our community, ensuring people from all walks of life have access to counselling. We believe that everyone, regardless of their gender, age, race, or background, deserves to have access to mental health support when they need it.

With this year’s theme ‘Let’s Connect’ focusing on the importance of meaningful connections for all, we hope that Children’s Mental Health Week 2023 will see more people than ever getting involved, starting important conversations with their children, and helping us to raise vital funds for children’s mental health.
